You may have heard that this is the Summer of Civics — random grassroots learning opportunities are springing up all over the place. Harvard's HarvardX CIV101 We the People: Civic Engagement in a Constitutional Democracy is popping. Of course, Jamie Raskin's doing his Democracy Summer thang with young folk. After Columbia shortsheeted Karen Attiah, she opened her course up online. Standing room only, for all of them.

But while you're standing around, why not walk it out at the same time.

I've been reading Jill Lepore's These Truths: A History of the United States. I've enjoyed reading, eListening, and just thinking about the history as I walk around Bernal Heights.

I just don't want this to be a solitary activity anymore. The book screams for polite conversation around US history. But I also don't want to sit around any more than I already am. So I wonder can a bookclub be a walking bookclub? Don't know: try it out as a booklab?
